Instructor-Led
This professional learning event will be led by Facing History staff. When you register, you will receive instructions for how to attend the event.
In this 2-day workshop, participants will explore Jewish life in pre-war North Africa, highlighting the diversity of Jewish communities across Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia and integrating stories that are often marginalized in learning about historical Jewish life and the Holocaust.
Facing History’s new resource, Voices of the Holocaust, is an integrated resource into Facing History’s Holocaust and Human Behavior, providing additional insight into the diversity of Jewish identities, specifically the Jews of North Africa and their experience of World War II. Educators will have the opportunity to delve into these new lessons, deepening their knowledge of the intersecting histories of the Holocaust and North Africa through the firsthand accounts of pre-war Jewish life and the impacts of antisemitic legislation and action.
This workshop is geared toward educators in Middle and High School settings who seek to learn about current Holocaust scholarship as well as add depth and diversity to classroom Holocaust units.
Cost: There is a non-refundable $25 registration fee due once your application has been accepted. The $700 fee for this seminar has been waived thanks to generous funding from Facing History and Ourselves donors and partner organizations.
This event will be held in-person at the Beit Rabban Day School.
