Trustee

Andrew is now a Trustee after serving on Facing History’s UK Advisory Board from 2020. After studying at Oxford University, he spent 22 years as an investment banker with Morgan Grenfell, later Deutsche Bank, working in London and New York as a senior project financier and adviser to corporates in Central Europe and the Former Soviet Union.

Further years followed in Kyiv as Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Ukraine. In the ensuing period, he held Supervisory Board positions with several international banks, as well as with Poland’s leading telecommunications  company.

In a change of professional direction, he was then elected a Fellow of Pembroke College at his alma mater, Oxford, and worked for 11 years as the College’s Strategic Development Director. He was the College’s chief fund-raiser and, together with his team, raised in excess of £30mn for new buildings as well as endowed academic posts and scholarships.

Now retired, Andrew is also a Trustee of The Opera Story which commissions and produces original new operas from young composers with the aim of stimulating and broadening audiences for an artform long assumed to be for an elite only. He lives in Hove with his wife, Anna.
